Alexandre Désilets

He's been described as "a blend of Rufus Wainwright and Thom Yorke with a pinch of the French icon Jean-Louis Murat" and I couldn't agree more. He mixes soft-pop songs with an almost haunting feeling to them. In 1999, he and two other composers with electronic backgrounds, Six years later in 2005, Alexandre teams up with a musician that goes by the name Funami. Together they did something unbelievably different. They made music by simply sampling his voice. This can be heard on the album, Vocophilia. This also gave them some international success as a few of the song were used for several Cirque de Soleil shows. A year later, Alexandre went solo and this proved to be quite promising. He soon starts to win a handful of music prizes in Quebec. By 2008, there's finally a debut solo release called Escalader L'ivresse. He soon starts being recognized again for his talent. He continues to be nominated for and win awards in Quebec. He is currently booked for a few dates around Canada.
