The End!

I've decided to quit this. I've realized that I just don't have the time anymore to work on this and I ultimately did what I wanted to do when I first started. My goal with this blog was to prove that France has an amazing music scene and I think I did that by being mentioned on Explore Music. So for the three of you out there that read this, see ya!

On Twitter and Facebook

Don't forget to follow me on Twitter and Facebook. I may not be posting a new artist everyday but I can still inform you on other cool things that are going on. I actually just got word of two parties French Pop Mission (link in the sidebar) is throwing in the next few weeks. There's one on the 10th and another on the 17th. Note that both parties are in France, so I sadly won't be there, and the links are in French. Hope you have fun!

Les Trois Accords

This is an example of a band that when you first hear them you ask "why aren't they more well known"? Les Trois Accords were formed back in 1997 in Quebec, Canada. For a good part of half a decade they released demos in and around their home province. Finally in 2003, their debut album, Gros Mammouth Album, came out. A year later it was re-released with two new songs. By September, 2005, they opened up for The Rolling Stones in New Brunswick to an audience of almost 85,000 people. A year later there was a second album, Grand Champion International De Course, and by this time everything had changed. They were no longer just this punk band but proved to be accepted into other genres. If you listen to Les Trois Accords music you can heard traces of indie, jazz, blues and even country. I your were to see them live you would also be treated to burlesque versions of song by Bryan Adams and Weezer. Two years later another record was released and so was fourth in 2009. The band in now touring around Canada and will make a few stops in Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

Alexandre Désilets

He's been described as "a blend of Rufus Wainwright and Thom Yorke with a pinch of the French icon Jean-Louis Murat" and I couldn't agree more. He mixes soft-pop songs with an almost haunting feeling to them. In 1999, he and two other composers with electronic backgrounds, Six years later in 2005, Alexandre teams up with a musician that goes by the name Funami. Together they did something unbelievably different. They made music by simply sampling his voice. This can be heard on the album, Vocophilia. This also gave them some international success as a few of the song were used for several Cirque de Soleil shows. A year later, Alexandre went solo and this proved to be quite promising. He soon starts to win a handful of music prizes in Quebec. By 2008, there's finally a debut solo release called Escalader L'ivresse. He soon starts being recognized again for his talent. He continues to be nominated for and win awards in Quebec. He is currently booked for a few dates around Canada.
