Born in Paris, France, Manu Chao has mixed together a variety of genres and lyrics in seven different languages and come out as one of the most successful artists in Europe. He started to get some attention with his brother and cousin in the band they formed back in 1987 called Mano Negra. They even got to tour in South America. The group then went their separate ways in 1995 but Manu continued on with his music career and went solo. Since then his lyrics have become more political and his tackled issues of globalization, immigration and social justice. This got even more positive attention from music fans but also left-winged political activists. He is also not shy to give his opinions on world leaders such as George W. Bush but he will rarely be seen on television. That of course hasn't at all hurt his career. He still has a huge following among fans of ska, reggae and latin music almost everywhere on the planet. Manu Chao is now in the home strtrech of finishing another successful tour. His last date will be Octover 1st in Nice, France.http://www.myspace.com/manuchao
